Dear Reference Chair,

I am writing to you today about my sweet neighbor growing up, Jane Doe. She will be attending Howard University in the Fall and she will also be going through sorority recruitment. I am a Delta Sigma Thema alumna from the University of Oakhaloma (graduated 2015) and I know she will make an excellent addition to Delta Sigma Theta at Howard University for many different reasons.

Jane is extremely intelligent, very philanthropic, and a social butterfly. Jane is eight years younger than me but growing up right next door to each other, I always referred to her as my “Mini Me”. I have known her for 14 years now and I have watched her grow up into an outstanding, real, strong, young woman. Jane is graduating in the top 6% of her class and she is the Senior Class Vice President. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, a Texas Scholar, a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and has been on the Academic Honor Roll for all four years of high school.

Jane is also the Varsity Cheerleading Captain and on the Varsity Track and Field team. This year, she was also on the Homing Court and she was recognized in iCheer Magazine as the All-American Academic High School Cheerleader of the Year. Jane is also involved in Young Life and has volunteered with Be the Change, Fair Haven, Breast Cancer Awareness events, and United Blood Drive Services.

Jane would make an outstanding member of Howard University’s Delta Sigma Theta because she is dedicated to academic success, and passionate about philanthropy and serving others. She is outgoing, active, and involved in several different social and sporting extracurriculars. I truly believe that Jane will shine in Delta Sigma Theta and could possibly be the sorority’s president when the time comes!

Sincerely,

Doris Zukav

She has volunteered countless hours at local non-profit organizations, such as the Boys & Girls Club and the local soup kitchen.
